Godley FFA members excelled at an invitational competition for career development events on March 2, 2023, at Jacksboro High School.

Team and individual placements included:

• Entomology: team, 3rd (Caitlyn White, 3rd; Zoey Caroll; Peyton Haws; Braxton Roamell; Kaegan Carter)

• Floriculture: team, 2nd (Nola Briscoe, 1st; Lila Heiner, 4th; Makenna Carter; Bailey Block)

• Livestock: Wylie Simpson, Trevin Pool, Taryn Franks, Tucker Clark, Ryann Russell, Emma Stuck, Mackenzie Crawford 

• Nursery/Landscape: Abbey Mathis, 2nd; Aubrey Schroder Wildlife: team, 4th (Cole Miller, Cheyenne Ordonez, Alex Duran, Owen Dickson, Keegan Bohannon, Creed Miller, Ava Jackson)

• Wool: team, 2nd (Klara Pinkerton, 1st; Natalie Jackson; Kalyn Jones; Morgan Cummings 

CDEs build on what is learned in agricultural classes and encourage members to put their knowledge into practice. These events are designed to help a member prepare for a career in agriculture by testing and challenging the student's technical, leadership, interpersonal and teamwork skills as well as their knowledge of the subject matter. CDEs answer the question, "When will I use this knowledge in the real world?"
