GODLEY BANDS WIN SWEEPSTAKES HONOR

Top Godley ISD bands earned superior ratings and sweepstakes honors at UIL concert and sightreading competition on March 2, 2023, at Glen Rose High School.

Godley High School’s Wind Ensemble earned Division I ratings for both stage and sightreading performances.  Combined with the fall marching award, the ensemble achieved sweepstakes for the school year.  The band will next perform at the Tarleton Invitational Band Festival on Tuesday, Mar. 7 at the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center on the campus of Tarleton State University in Stephenville.

For Godley Middle School, the Symphonic Band won top marks in both portions of the competition and qualified for sweepstakes.  The Concert Band received excellent ratings for both concert and sightreading.

Programs for the Godley groups were:

 

  • GHS Wind Ensemble: Torch of Liberty (Karl L. King), Glaciers (Scott Director), Imaginarium (Randall Standridge)

  • GMS Symphonic Band: Hillside March (Randall Standridge), Danza de Espana (Carol Brittin Chambers), Synchronized Energy (Greg Fhiaras)

  • GMS Concert Band: Glenwood March (David Gorham), Vulcan's Forge (Patrick Roszell), Dance Celebration (Robert W. Smith)

GHS band directors are Joe Walker, Michelle Slayton, Grayson Hancock and David Kennedy.
