SCHOOL BOARD TRUSTEES HEAR FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY REPORT

December 21, 2022

Godley ISD school board trustees heard a financial accountability report during a public hearing on December 20, 2022, at Godley Middle School.

Chief Financial Officer Bryan Myres presented the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) report, with the school district recognized for superior achievement - the highest rating available.

The primary goal of FIRST is to achieve quality performance in the management of school districts’ financial resources, a goal made more significant due to the complexity of accounting associated with Texas’ school finance system.

Including twenty indicators, FIRST ensures that Texas public schools are held accountable for the quality of their fiscal management practices and that they improve those practices. The system is designed to encourage Texas public schools to better manage their financial resources to provide the maximum allocation possible for direct instructional purposes.

The FIRST report is one of several fiscal accountability tools, which also include an annual financial audit.

School trustees will next meet on Monday, Jan. 23.  Board meetings are held at Godley High School, which is located at 9501 Highway 171.
