November 7, 2022

Godley High School Ladycat freshmen Stephanie Favela and Sadey Hughey competed at the UIL state cross country meet on November 4, 2022, at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock.

Among 152 runners, Favela placed 33rd with a time of 12:38.1, while Hughey was 102nd with a finish time of 13:28.7.

At the region meet on Oct. 24 in Grand Prairie, Favela and Hughey earned their state bids after placing seventh and ninth among individual runners not on the top four teams.  The two freshmen posted times of 12:31 and 12:52 respectively in the race featuring 157 runners.  The first four teams and the top ten individuals not already on one of the advancing teams qualify for state.

The Ladycat varsity squad qualified for the regional contest after winning the district championship on Oct. 11 in Hillsboro.

Godley girls’ cross country coach is Keith McFarland.
