PLEASANT VIEW ELEMENTARY OPENING SET FOR JANUARY 2023

Godley Independent School District - Pleasant View Elementary School

Pleasant View Elementary School, a new campus in Godley ISD, will open in January 2023.

Students will return from the Christmas Break on January 11 to the new school located in the Silo Mills residential development along a new parkway south of FM 917.

Currently, Pleasant View students are together with their teachers and classmates in designated classrooms at Godley 6th Grade Campus, Legacy Elementary School, and R.B. Godley Elementary School.  

“We look forward to having all our Pleasant View students together in our beautiful new building,” commented Principal Dr. Melissa Block.  “I know all of our students, teachers, and staff are excited and anxious for our opening.”

The delay in opening follows continued complications from supply chain issues caused by the lingering impact of COVID-19 on the global economy. Procuring enough skilled labor has also been a challenge for the construction company. Consequently, many projects took longer than expected. The district used bond contingency funds to help mitigate these challenges to secure the earliest opening possible.

GISD school board trustees previously approved a contract amount for the project, and contractors and subcontractors must bear additional costs because of the delay.

“We will be communicating with all parents the closer we get to the completion of construction,” said Superintendent Dr. Rich Dear. “If we are able to move in sooner than January, we will gladly let everyone know.”
