- According to the CDC, fever is 100.4 degrees or higher.
- Sent home: yes
- Return to school: when 24 hours fever free WITHOUT fever reducing medications
Vomiting and/or Diarrhea
- Sent home: yes
- Return to school: time period of 24 hours with no vomiting and/or diarrhea
Pink Eye (bacterial or viral)
- Sent home: yes
- Return to school: permission and/or permit is issued by a physician or local health authority, or until symptom free
Head Lice
- Sent home: if the student has live lice*
- Return to school: after treatment and recheck by the school nurse*
- Note sent to parents
Wound (draining)
- Sent home: if drainage cannot be contained with a dressing
- Return to school: when drainage can be contained with a dressing
Flu
- Sent home: yes
- Return to school: when 24 hours fever free WITHOUT fever reducing medications
Ringworm
- Sent home: no, unless the infected areas are unable to be covered up
- Return to school: when infected area can be covered up or treatment has begun
