Exploring a Potential 4-Day School Week in Godley ISD

Godley ISD has formed an exploratory group to examine the possibility of transitioning to a 4-day school week.

At this stage, no decision has been made. The group is studying multiple factors that would need to be carefully considered before any recommendation is brought forward.

What Is Being Studied?

The exploratory process includes reviewing:

  • Academic impact – student learning, instructional time, calendars, staffing and student outcomes
  • Financial and operational considerations – transportation, utilities, staffing efficiencies and district operations
  • Research and case studies – experiences from other school districts that have adopted a 4-day school week
  • Community feedback – input from families, staff and community members

Community Survey Coming Soon

A districtwide survey for parents, families, staff and community members is being developed and is expected to launch in early May 2026. Stakeholder feedback will be an important part of the process.

Review and Recommendation Process

The exploratory group will report its findings to the District Advisory Council. The council will review the information and make a recommendation to the Godley ISD Board of Trustees.
