4-Day School Week Proposal
Exploring a Potential 4-Day School Week in Godley ISD
In Spring 2026, Godley ISD formed an exploratory group to examine the possibility of transitioning to a 4-day school week.
At this stage, no decision has been made. The group is studying multiple factors that would need to be carefully considered before any recommendation is brought forward.
What Is Being Studied?
The exploratory process includes reviewing:
- Academic impact – student learning, instructional time, calendars, staffing and student outcomes
- Financial and operational considerations – transportation, utilities, staffing efficiencies and district operations
- Research and case studies – experiences from other school districts that have adopted a 4-day school week
- Community feedback – input from families, staff and community members
Community Survey Conducted
A districtwide survey for parents, families, staff and community members is being developed and was conducted in early May 2026. Stakeholder feedback is an important part of the process.
Review and Recommendation Process
The exploratory group will report its findings to the District Advisory Council in September 2026. The council will review the information and make a recommendation to the Godley ISD Board of Trustees.

Earliest Possible Start Date
If approved, the earliest possible implementation would be the 2027-28 school year.
