The Wildcat Wish Game at Wildcat Stadium on October 17, 2025, was about much more than football — it was about celebrating courage, joy, and community spirit.
During the game, five-year-old Charlotte “Charlie” Freeland, a kindergartener at Legacy Elementary School, served as the honorary captain for the Godley Wildcats. Diagnosed in March with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), Charlie has faced every challenge with incredible strength, bravery, and her trademark bright smile.
Charlie continues chemotherapy treatments that will last through May 2026. Through it all, she has shown what it truly means to meet life’s challenges with faith, hope, and perseverance.
Throughout the game and that afternoon’s pep rally, Charlie joined the Godley High School Cheerleaders, cheering on the Wildcats and inspiring everyone in attendance.

The Freeland family — parents Savannah and Tyler Freeland — received special recognition for their unwavering support and love for Charlie as she continues her treatment journey.
“Charlie represents the very best of our Wildcat spirit,” said organizer Kristi Mayes. “Her courage and joy remind us all what it means to lead with heart.”
The Wildcat Wish Game served as a meaningful reminder that the Godley community stands together — on and off the field — to lift up and support one another.
