The Godley Wildcat Band competed at the UIL Class 4A Area D marching contest on October 29, 2022, at Liberty Hill High School.

The Pride of Goldey finished 11th in a field of 29 bands that all advanced with first-division ratings from regional competitions.

“Our super fantastic season came to a close today,” commented GHS band director Joe Walker following the Saturday competition.  “It was so awesome to see so many people work towards a common goal and even more awesome to watch this show come to life over the season.”

At the Region 30 contest on Oct. 15, Goldey earned a Division I rating with top marks from all three judges. Music for the “Pure Imagination” fall marching show includes “Overture from Back to School,” “This is Halloween,” “Not While I'm Around,” “Carnival from Hell,” and “Pure Imagination.”

Earlier in the season, the band placed tenth at the US Bands Saginaw Regional on Sept. 24, seventh at the Aubrey Marching Classic on Oct. 1, and seventh at the AT&T Stadium Classic on Oct. 4. Godley won Best in Class awards and swept caption awards for music, visual, overall effect, percussion, and colorguard.

The band is under the direction of Walker, who is assisted by Grayson Hancock, Michelle Slayton, David Kennedy, and Caleb Hunter.  Drum majors are Dylan Dunn-Peacock and Alexis Jacobi, and colorguard captain is Chloe Brown.
