Two Godley FFA leadership teams are advancing to state competition following standout performances at the Area VIII Leadership Development Events (LDE) on November 21, 2025, at Waxahachie High School.

The Greenhand Skills team captured the area championship with a first-place finish. Team members include Landry Kamm, Je’Nessa Melgoza, Jade Neyman and Branding Reo.

Also advancing is the Agricultural Advocacy team, which earned second place. Team members are Tucker Clark, Taryn Franks, Lila Heiner and Klara Pinkerton.

“These students have worked incredibly hard, put in long hours of practice, and represented Godley with pride, professionalism and dedication. We couldn’t be more excited for them and their accomplishments,” the sponsors said.

The Greenhand Quiz team — Jayden Hutt, Jonathan Ivy, Tiphanie Miller and Kolton Pinkerton — placed sixth overall. Hutt also earned third place individually.

LDEs challenge students to demonstrate public speaking, decision-making, communication skills and knowledge of agriculture and the FFA organization. Both team and individual events reinforce key lessons from the agricultural science classroom.

The state competition will be held Dec. 5–6 at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.

FFA sponsors are Lacey Bennett, Lloyd Pinkerton, Millie Loftin, Katherine Adams and Shelby Brown.
