Godley High School senior Madeline Ackers announced plans to continue competing in college track and field at Sam Houston State University during a signing ceremony on March 5, 2025.

With the university located in Huntsville, the Bearkats compete in NCAA Division I’s Conference USA.

Last year as a junior, Ackers was a regional qualifier in the shot put - while setting a new school record - and also competed at the area contest in the discus.
