Godley ISD held a “topping out” ceremony for The WILD (Wildcat Innovative Learning Destination), the future four-story career and technical education center at Godley High School. The ceremony was held on April 26, 2023.
A construction tradition, a “topping out” ceremony celebrates project milestones when the final structural beam is raised into place, completing the building's frame.
Attendees had an opportunity to sign the beam, which will eventually be placed at the top of the new school facility. Signing were school board trustees, district and campus administrators, high school teachers, long-range facility planning committee members and others. The beam will remain in the high school for students to have an opportunity to sign before it is raised into place.
Part of Phase 2 construction at the high school campus, The WILD will house over 40 classrooms, learning spaces and student-led enterprises.
The ceremony was held in conjunction with Huckabee architectural firm and Satterfield & Pontikes Construction Company.
