Four Godley Wildcats earned All-State honors from the Texas Sportswriters Association following the 2023 baseball season.
Selected for the third team among Class 4A teams were seniors Kole Allen (pitcher) and Chris Sinku (designated hitter) along with sophomore Byron McClure (outfielder). Receiving honorable mention recognition was junior Lucas Ponce, an infielder.
Allen was the District 10-4A most valuable player and the Johnson County pitcher of the year, while McClure, Ponce and Sinku received first-team honors for both the county and district squads.
Other Wildcats on the all-county squads were: first team - Jason Carrell, Owen Roever, Jaydon Spurlock; second team - Ethan Davies, Tate Grimsley.
Additional District 10-4A honorees were: first team - Tate Grimsley, Owen Roever, Jaydon Spurlock; second team - Crosby Carmichael, Ethan Davies.
As district champion for the third straight year, Godley stomped Fort Worth Western Hills in back-to-back playoff games (10-0 and 20-0) to win the bi-district championship on May 5. During the area round, the GHS boys fell to the Aubrey Chaparrals 8-7 and 2-0 in the best-of-three series on May 12-13.
