Godley ISD Superintendent Dr. Rich Dear presented a “state of the district” during the Godley Chamber of Commerce luncheon on August 21, 2025, at Godley High School. 

Dear began with an overview of the mission, vision and values of the school district as well as the pillars in the community-based accountability system that is based upon the hopes and dreams of the Godley community.

Current enrollment tops 3,329 students - up substantially the last two years, with the high school and middle school campuses having big gains in students.  The superintendent also summarized the most recent demographic projections, with the district expecting 1,000 new students in the next five years and needing to plan for four of six campuses to be over capacity.

Crystal Meyers, community engagement coordinator for Mentors Care, explained how the transformative new program aims to support at-risk students by pairing them with caring adult mentors who meet with them weekly. 

Dear summarized a bond proposal impacting Godley Middle School, Godley 6th Grade Campus, Legacy Elementary School and R.B. Godley Elementary School that will be on the November ballot.  Proposition A is designed to address enrollment growth by expanding the capacity of GMS. It addresses aging existing facilities and technology, including interior renovations; roofs, HVAC systems and plumbing systems replacements; and lighting, data wiring and classroom technology updates. The rest of the presentation focused on new protocols on student cell phone use, clear bags and spectator expectations, campus safety and security, and ways for businesses to support school organizations and booster clubs.

Dear also provided a preview of the upcoming community report that will be issued in early September.
