Godley ISD enrollment continues to climb and will hit 8,500 students within ten years, according to a demographic report presented to the district’s Long Range Facility Planning Committee during meetings over Fall 2022.

Over the past ten years, enrollment increased 67%, with 1,672 students enrolled in 2012 compared to just over 2,800 for the 2022-23 school year.  The current student counts aligns with the most recent analysis by Templeton Demographics.

Enrollment increased an average of 7% annually, but that growth rate could increase to 15% by the 2024-25 school year. Demographers project that the district will add nearly 900 new students in the near future and add 5,000 over the next ten years.

Based on the steep student increase by 2032, the long-range committee is charged with recommending facility options to the school board.  The 60-member group has met four times since late August and will convene several more times before developing proposals by the end of the year.

GISD will likely grow due to new transportation corridors, with all planned routes for an outer loop around Dallas-Fort Worth coming through the school district.  These include expansion of both Farm-to-Market Road 1187 and State Highway 171.  

Over 20,000 family homes are in the planning stages in the district.  Residential housing developments continue to increase with work underway on nine subdivisions and planning for 22 more housing communities.
