The state-ranked Godley Ladycats completed a full sweep of District 10-4A volleyball play with a victory over Waxahachie Life on October 24, 2023.
Throughout the season, GHS girls posted victories over all district foes.
During the first half of district action, Ladycats bested Alvarado (25-14, 25-14, 25-19) on Sept. 8, Ferris (25-13, 24-26, 25-12, 25-19) on Sept. 12, Kennedale (25-11, 25-9, 25-18) on Sept. 15, Hillsboro (25-12, 25-7, 25-8) on Sept. 22, Venus (25-7, 25-4, 25-12) on Sept. 26 and Waxahachie Life (25-14, 25-14, 26-24) on Sept. 29.
Second half scores show the Godley varsity winning over Alvarado (25-17, 25-14, 25-18) on Oct. 3, Ferris (25-18, 25-19, 25-19) on Oct. 6, Kennedale (25-11, 25-8, 25-17) on Oct. 10, Hillsboro (25-15, 25-8, 25-12) on Oct. 17, Venus (25-8, 25-18, 25-13) on Oct. 20 and Waxahachie Life (25-18, 25-19, 25-17) on Oct. 24.
The district champions will face Fort Worth Eastern Hills in a bi-district playoff on Monday, Oct. 30 at Fort Worth ISD’s Billingsley Field House. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
Junior varsity and freshman Ladycats also were district champions.
The varsity squad includes Ashtin Anglin, Kytzia Cortez, Michaela Davis, Ahmari Govea, Bree Hubbard, Catrina Leverett, Baylee Mobley, Logan Reed, Trinity Roden, Brynn Staton, Bella Van Wart and Kyla Williams.
JV team members are Peyton Bower, Calleigh Brewer, Nola Briscoe, Ryleigh Dollins, Kenadie Gonzalez, Kase Grimsley, Lila Heiner, Abbigail Lee, Trynity Lively and Kinlee Smith.
Freshman players are Bailey Block, Hayden Keeton, Braely Lee, Emma Lindamood, Katie Ponce, Raelyn Revland, Rylie Robertson, Ralynn Roteman, Isabelle Salmaron, Alyssa Sullivan and Sadie Williams.
Head coach Courtney Hammett is assisted by Ashley Blue and Skyler Warrick, and managers are Michaela Davis and Samantha Young.
