The state-ranked Godley Ladycats completed a full sweep of District 10-4A volleyball play with a victory over Waxahachie Life on October 25, 2022.

Throughout district action, GHS girls posted victories over all district foes without losing a single set. 

This marks Godley's first outright district title since 2009.

Second half scores show the Godley varsity winning over Alvarado (25-15, 25-16, 25-14) on Oct. 4, Ferris (25-11, 25-12, 25-17) on Oct. 7, Kennedale (25-13, 25-14, 25-21) on Oct. 11, Hillsboro (25-16, 25-15, 25-11) on Oct. 18 , Venus (25-5, 25-8, 25-9) on Oct. 21 and Waxahachie Life (25-14, 25-6, 25-13) on Oct. 25.

During the first half of district action, Ladycats bested Alvarado (25-11, 25-14, 27-25) on Sept. 9, Ferris (25-12, 25-19, 25-13) on Sept. 13, Kennedale (25-11, 25-11, 25-12) on Sept. 16, Hillsboro (25-9, 25-11, 25-13) on Sept. 23, Venus (25-11, 25-10, 25-7) on Sept. 27 and Waxahachie Life (25-13, 25-13, 25-10) on Sept. 30.

The district champions will face Fort Worth Dunbar in a bi-district playoff on Monday, Oct. 31 at Fort Worth ISD’s Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center.  Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.

Junior varsity Ladycats also posted wins in each district matchup, while freshmen suffered only a single loss to Alvarado during first-half play.

The varsity squad includes Ashtin Anglin, Jessica Castillo, Kendall Castor, Bree Hubbard, Catrina Leverett, Baylee Mobley, Logan Reed, Kristen Robles, Trinity Roden, Audrey Rodriguez, Brynn Staton and Bella Van Wart.  

JV team members are Lexi Abbott, Peyton Bower, Kytzia Cortez, Morgan Cummings, Ahmari Govea, Lila Heiner, Nina Jimenez, Kori Jones, Keira Munguia Elvira, Trinity Lively and Kyla Williams.

Freshman players are Marissa Bethel, Calleigh Brewer, Nola Briscoe, Cale Broyles, Ryleigh Dollins, Stephanie Favela, Sophia Hodges, Sadey Hughey, Abbi Lee, Kinlee Smith and Lexi Tyler.

Head coach Courtney Hammett is assisted by Ashley Blue and Rus Mayes, and managers are Michaela Davis and Nina Jimenez.
