Several Godley ISD students were recognized for entries in soil and water conservation contests with awards presented at a banquet on May 6, 2024, at the Cleburne Conference Center. Also honored was a Godley FFA sponsor.

Godley 6th Grade Campus student Makenna Robinson was honored for the district champion poster, while classmates Maddie Hughes and Cheyenne Bills placed second and third among students in grades 3-6.

R.B. Godley students Keely Sargent and Owen Schowe also won awards for their posters.  Sargent was second among K-2 students, while Schowe placed third in the pre-kindergarten category.

From Godley High School, senior Ketrevian Adams and freshman Klara Pinkerton each placed second in the 11-12 and 9-10 divisions respectively.

In addition, GHS agricultural science teacher Leslie Bourgea was named 2024 Conservation Teacher for her commitment to agriculture, conservation and education.

Soil and Water Conservation District 541 held the banquet to honor Johnson County students for essays and artwork.  The district and its state board and association sponsor the competition annually to provide competition and incentives to expand and improve conservation efforts, resource development, and increase the wise utilization of our renewable natural resources.
