Godley Middle School’s seventh-grade girls and boys won first place at the Granbury Race for the Loot cross country invitational on September 24, 2025, at the Granbury Disc Golf Course.

Kylie Rangel (16:35.32) was the top seventh-grade Ladycat, finishing 13th individually to help the squad win first place in the 11-team division of 110 contestants. Medalists included Elle Stark (16:52.04), 15th; Alyssa Stokes (16:58.75), 16th; Aliza Sanchez (17:00.61), 17th; and Piper Mosby (17:12.12), 19th. Other competitors were Aliana Loera, Layla Allison, Autumn Harp, Lyla Patterson, Ariel Botello, Avery Parker, Lynlee Makovy, Carsyn Cholico, Giselle Olalde, Hannah Anderson, Bailey Bishop, Makayla Hoyt and Lauren Pedigo.

For the seventh-grade boys, Sergio Martinez was the individual champion, with a first-place finish of 12:55.72. The GMS team finished first among 12 teams with 121 runners. Medalists included Jude Mourning (13:24.59), fourth; Dax Wall (13:52.34), seventh; Bentley Sherry (13:59.62), ninth; Hudson Dudley (14:19.21), 12th; Kallen Beck (14:57.64), 16th; and Isiah Santillan (15:06.93), 17th. Other team members were Noah Brunick, Harrison Dowdy, Townes Chauveaux, Fabian Arvizu, Harlin Hartsolf, Mason Anthony, Carson Carr and Kensington Aceves.

Eighth-grade girls finished fifth in a field of 92 from eight schools. Bella Garza led with a 13th-place finish at 15:41.08, followed by Gracie DeFoor (16:18.13), 17th. Other Godley finishers were Makenna Robinson, Maddox Hill, Saige Armstrong, Avery DeLeon, Addaleigh Perez, Daeja Nays, Makayla Swiger and Embrey Carroll.

The GMS eighth-grade boys finished second in the division of 94 runners, led by Jorge Gurrola (12:44.91) and Kasyn Barrientos (12:47.78), who placed fifth and sixth, respectively. Dominic Walker (13:34.41) finished 15th. Other team members were Axel Green, Ronin Tiefenbruin, Wyatt Shannon, Aiden Neal, John Switzer, Logan Ogle, Tristan Hillis, Gavin Damron and Wyatt Ivey.

Godley cross country coaches are Jason Hill and Keith McFarland.

Middle school runners next compete in the Stephenville Thrill of the Hill on Oct. 1 followed by the district competition on Oct. 8 at Brock High School.
