Godley ISD school board trustees reviewed district and campus improvement plans during their regular monthly meeting November 17, 2025, at Godley High School.

Chief Academic Officer Airemy Caudle led the third review of the district improvement plan, which uses a needs assessment and other data to guide goals, projects, and resource allocation. The plan aligns with the seven pillars of the Community-Based Accountability System (CBAS) and emphasizes priorities such as exceeding state accountability standards, ensuring highly qualified educators in every classroom, and improving student attendance by fostering a safe and supportive school environment.

Campus principals presented the second review of their campus improvement plans, highlighting key focus areas connected to the CBAS framework. Developed around the hopes and dreams of the Godley community, CBAS measures district success and effectiveness. It celebrates achievements, identifies opportunities for growth, and integrates state accountability measures.

Board members will consider the district plan at the upcoming Team of 8 training. Campus plans will be on the agenda for the December regular meeting.

Assistant Superintendent Jason Karnes presented the first review of local and legal policy changes in Policy Update 126, as recommended by the Texas Association of School Boards.

Trustees cast votes for nominations to the appraisal district boards of directors for Hood and Johnson counties.

Other reports included:

  • Campus Spotlight: Principal Tracey Green presented Pleasant View Elementary’s campus spotlight, showcasing student leadership, community engagement and academic initiatives through the CBAS framework. She highlighted the Wildcat Ambassadors, an encore performance of the third-grade Veterans Day music program, and updates on the Math Dash Initiative, rising PTO membership and attendance incentives.
  • Bond Oversight Committee:  Superintendent Dr. Rich Dear shared that although the November 2025 bond initiative did not pass, the district will move forward with creating a bond oversight advisory committee to support transparency, accountability and community trust. The committee will begin by reviewing the 2021 bond program and the ongoing audit of Phase 2 construction projects at Godley High School, including The WILD, and will provide updates through reports and the district website.
  • Emergent Bilingual Program:  Coordinator Kristina Sosebee presented the district’s annual Emergent Bilingual Program Evaluation, highlighting continued progress among EB students and growing program needs. She reported gains in TELPAS, STAAR Reading, and EOC English performance, including a 100% success rate for monitored students. EB learners now make up nearly 12% of district enrollment. Sosebee also outlined ongoing recruitment and certification efforts, reviewed bilingual exception and ESL waiver requirements, and shared recommendations—including expanded language-learning resources, additional paraprofessional and teacher support positions, and early planning for a future dual-language program.
  • “Moonlighting” Bill:  Chief Human Resources Officer Dr. Melissa Block highlighted House Bill 3372, outlining new state rules that prohibit school administrators from receiving compensation from businesses or education entities that work with the district. The measure is designed to prevent conflicts of interest, with violations carrying a $10,000 penalty. Certain administrators may be exempt if the board approves a disclosed contract that poses no conflict, causes no harm to the district, and is completed on personal time.

In other business, board members approved minutes, financial reports, and budget amendments. Trustees also approved the renewal of an interlocal agreement with the Multi-Region Purchasing Cooperative for the district’s child nutrition program.

The board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 15.  Trustees will hold their annual Team of 8 workshop on Monday, Dec. 1.
