Godley ISD school board trustees met for their regular monthly meeting October 20, 2025, at Godley High School.

Chief Academic Officer Airemy Caudle, Chief Readiness Officer Dr. Nikki Nix and Chief Human Resources Officer Dr. Melissa Block reviewed the district improvement plan, which includes a needs assessment and other data to guide goals, projects and resources. The plan is aligned to the seven pillars of the Community-Based Accountability System (CBAS).

The district improvement plan emphasizes key priorities such as exceeding state accountability standards, ensuring highly qualified educators in every classroom, and improving student attendance by fostering a safe and supportive school environment.

Campus principals also shared the first review of their campus improvement plans, highlighting areas of focus connected to the CBAS framework.

CBAS is a locally developed model built around the hopes and dreams of the Godley community. It measures the district’s success and effectiveness, showcases achievements, identifies opportunities for growth, and integrates state accountability measures.

Trustees discussed establishing a bond oversight advisory committee that will serve in an advisory role to district leaders, helping ensure transparency, accountability, and community trust throughout the implementation of voter-approved bond projects. The committee will monitor construction progress, review timelines and expenditures, and provide reports to keep the trustees and public informed. Composed of a diverse group of community members—including representatives from district committees, stakeholders with construction experience, and individuals with differing perspectives—the committee will meet at least quarterly and share updates through reports and the district website.

In other business, board members approved minutes as well as financial and investment reports.

Other reports included:

• Campus spotlight: GHS Principal Kurtis Flood presented information about the campus, including enrollment data, focus areas for the school year within the CBAS framework, and staff survey results related to the recent implementation of student cell phone restrictions.
• Enrollment: The district currently has 3,343 students, up almost 5% over last school year. Snapshot Day for public schools across the state is Friday, Oct. 31. This data will also be used for University Interscholastic League realignment for the 2026-28 biennium.
• Transportation: Jimmy Palcic, the new transportation director, reviewed current school bus routes and white fleet vehicles. He also explained potential costs related to retrofitting buses with seat belts. In recognition of School Bus Safety Week, Palcic introduced the district’s school bus drivers.
• Technology: Chief Technology Officer Marty Oliver introduced a potential partnership with Sinclair Digital to bring Edge Networking technology to Godley ISD. This innovative approach, similar to “fiber to the home” but extended as “fiber to the classroom” or “fiber to the student,” delivers fiber connectivity directly into learning spaces rather than stopping outside the building.

The board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 17.
