Godley ISD school board trustees held their monthly meeting on July 21, 2025, at Godley High School.

Trustees considered or reviewed several local policy recommendations and proposed administrative regulations:

  • The board adopted the student code of conduct for the 2025-26 school year.
  • Assistant Superintendent Jason Karnes outlined proposed facility protocols designed to promote safety as well as good sportsmanship among students and spectators.  The administration regulation will require clear bags and includes provisions for conduct at athletic competitions, concerts and other events.  There will be no outside food or drink, and students in 8th grade or younger must be accompanied by an adult to attend high school events.
  • Trustees approved a local policy change regarding graduation requirements for students not pursuing an endorsement plan.
  • A local policy regarding bathroom and locker rooms was adopted requiring multiple-occupancy facilities to be used only by persons based on their biological sex.  A second policy regarding parental authority in student welfare was tabled pending a review of recent legislative action.
  • Brian Hunt, the district director of safety and well-being, reviewed the student handbook.
  • Board members adopted local policy changes recommended by the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) in Policy Update 125.
  • The board took no action on a local policy regarding homeschool participation in University Interscholastic League-sanctioned programs and competitions. Trustees table the agenda item for consideration at a future meeting.

Additional reports to the board included:

  • Chief Financial Officer Spencer Davis reported on renovations at the business and student services annex near R.B. Godley, where some administrative offices are moving to free up classroom space at Legacy.

The board approved minutes from the most recent monthly meeting, financial reports and budget amendments.  Trustees also extended an agreement for Johnson County 4-H and Texas A&M Agrilife extension service to serve as adjunct faculty for extracurricular activities.

School trustees will hold their next regularly scheduled board meeting on Monday, Aug. 18.
