Godley ISD school board trustees honored Godley Middle School students as well as Godley High School cross country and volleyball players at the regular meeting on December 18, 2023, at GHS.
Leading the pledges to the United States and Texas flags were GMS students Kaden Lagow, Aiden Peace and Annalise Tennison. The group was introduced by Principal Tom Frazier.
Coach Keith McFarland presented the 2023 girls varsity cross country team, which competed at the UIL state meet in early November after advancing from fourth place at the regional contest and first place in district. They included Paola Diaz, Stephanie Favela, Jordyn Geesaman, Sophia Hodges, Sadey Hughey, Makayla Jetton and Kinzie Riney. Also recognized were varsity alternates Nola Briscoe, Emma Lindamood and Julyssa Ortiz.
Ladycat volleyball girls were introduced by assistant coach Skyler Warrick. The varsity squad completed a full sweep of district volleyball play, posting a perfect 12-0 record, and then beat Fort Worth Eastern Hills in the bi-district round before falling to Aubrey at the area level. The team included Ashtin Anglin, Kytzia Cortez, Michaela Davis, Ahmari Govea, Bree Hubbard, Catrina Leverett, Baylee Mobley, Logan Reed, Trinity Roden, Brynn Staton, Bella Van Wart and Kyla Williams. JV players moving up for the playoffs are Peyton Bower and Lila Heiner.
