Godley ISD school board trustees recognized several students during its monthly meeting on May 20, 2024, at Godley High School.

Students from GHS and Godley Middle School honored were:

• GMS seventh graders completed community-inspired essays after engaging local businesses. Around 90 students led by teacher Sandi Foster contacted 42 businesses and organizations to inquire about how they contribute to the community and promote local pride. completed community-inspired essays after engaging local businesses. • GHS student athlete Kade Sundheim competed in the shot put at the UIL Class 4A state track and field meet.  He was introduced by his coach and father, Eric Sundheim.

• Four GHS students competing in the Texas High School Bass Association state tournament were honored for their achievement:  Blane Applegate, Camden Darder, Owen Dickson and Braeden Gregg.  The students were introduced by team sponsor Crissa Applegate and were accompanied by boat captains.

• Five Godley FFA teams competed in state-level career development events.  They were introduced by GHS agricultural science teacher Lacey Bennett and were accompanied by fellow teachers Leslie Bourgea and Millie Loftin.

  • Entomology:  Zoe Carrell, Aliyah Conn, Braxton Roamell, Caitlyn White

  • Floriculture:  Nola Briscoe, Makenna Carter, Lila Heiner, Abbey Mathis

  • Livestock:  Tucker Clark, Taryn Franks, Wylie Simpson, Logan Wilson 

  • Wildlife:  Owen Dickson, Alex Duran, Peyton Haws, Creed Miller

  • Wool:  Makinley DeFoor, Payton DeFoor, Brooke Lynch, Klara Pinkerton
