Godley Ladycats overcame a first-game loss to win the area softball series over Celina on May 4-5, 2023.

The GHS girls fell to Celina 13-1 in the best-of-three series opener on May 4 at home.  The Ladycats battled back after that loss to beat the Lady Bobcats in back-to-back games on May 5, with Godley posting 10-4 and 9-8 wins to claim the area victory.

As the District 10-4A champion, the Ladycats first defeated Fort Worth Dunbar, the fourth-place team from District 9, by a whopping 21-0 after five innings in a single-game matchup.

The GHS girls will next face Van Alstyne in the regional quarterfinal at Saginaw High School.  The three-game series begins on Thursday, May 11 at 6:30 p.m.  Game 2 will follow on Friday, May 12 at 6:30 p.m.  If necessary, a deciding third matchup is set for Saturday, May 13 at 1 p.m.

Varsity Ladycats include Madison Aguiar, Samantha Andersen, Jacy Barrett, Alyssa Castillo, Cadence Chambliess, Karlee Clark, Ahmari Govea, Halle Gross, Bree Hubbard, Lexy Lewallen, Brittany Roark, Macy Robinson, Audrey Rodriguez, Bailee Wallis and Dakota Watson.

Head coach Rus Mayes is assisted by Kristi Mayes and Jill Kendall, trainer Duke Graham and managers Cate Heiner and Marissa Bethel.
