Two R.B. Godley Elementary School second graders competed in the DFW Youth World Baseball Classic on August 10-12, 2024, in Waxahachie and Red Oak.

Brennan Barsch and Easton Finnegan were members of Team USA 7U, which finished division play with a 3-1 record. The squad fell to Team Venezuela 11-9 in its opening match and then followed up with three straight victories 16-7 over Team Lonestar, 7-5 over Team Africa, and 15-0 over Team Asia. Team USA fell to Team Mexico 15-9 in the tournament finals.

The two second graders were “ecstatic to represent Godley for Team USA,” according to parent Denise Finnegan, a first-grade teacher at the school.

Both boys play select baseball with the NTX Drillers based in Godley.
