First grade and kindergarten students at R.B. Godley Elementary School have been caring for the campus gardens during Spring 2023.

While developing understanding about garden care responsibilities, students are learning about plants, their life cycles and the delicious food they can produce.  Both students and teachers are enjoying this immersive experience and time outside.

Sponsored by the Johnson County office of Texas AgriLife Extension Service, the “Learn, Grow, Eat & Go!” program grows good kids through an interdisciplinary program combining academic achievement, gardening, nutrient-dense food experiences, physical activity as well as school and family engagement.

Gardens were provided to the school by Cook Children’s.
