The Pride of Godley finished seventh at its final invitational marching competition on October 4, 2022, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
At the AT&T Stadium Classic hosted by USBands, Godley won the Best in Class award and swept caption awards for music, visual, overall effect, percussion, and colorguard.
“Pride doesn’t even come close - but it’s fitting for their name,” commented band director Joe Walker, praising the band for their performances and earning a spot in contest finals for the third-straight competition.
The “Pure Imagination” marching show includes music from “Overture from Back to School,” “This is Halloween,” “Now While I'm Around,” “Carnival from Hell,” and “Pure Imagination.”
At the USBands Saginaw Regional on Sept. 24, Godley received Best in Class honors as well as awards for music, effect, percussion, and colorguard. The band placed tenth in the evening finals. That was followed by seventh-place finish at the Aubrey Marching Classic on Oct. 1.
The GHS band next competes at UIL region marching contest on Saturday, Oct. 15 in Springtown.
Drum majors are Alexis Jacobi and Dylan Dunn-Peacock, and colorguard captain is Chloe Brown.
Walker is assisted by Grayson Hancock, Michelle Slayton, David Kennedy, and Caleb Hunter.
