The Pride of Godley placed ninth after advancing to finals at the USBands Saginaw Regional on September 23, 2023, at Saginaw High School’s Rough Rider Stadium.

During prelims, Godley received Best in Class honors and swept caption awards with the fall marching show “The Piano Man” featuring several songs from Billy Joel.

The GHS marching band earned high marks from the judging panel and a spot in the evening finals for the competition that featured mainly Class 5A and 6A schools.

In addition to the full band, the colorguard earned a fifth-place finish.

The Godley band will participate in the USBands Dallas Regional on Saturday, Sept. 30 in Crowley before competing at UIL region marching contest on Saturday, Oct. 14 in Springtown.

Band director Joe Walker is assisted by Grayson Hancock, Michelle Slayton, David Kennedy and Caleb Hunter.
