Goldey High School golfer Colin Price won the Region II-4A tournament on April 19-20, 2023, at Van Zandt Country Club in Canton.
A GHS senior, Price shot 142 (73-69) to take the tourney championship, shooting two under par.
Price will make his third consecutive appearance at the state tournament on May 22-23 at Legends Golf Course in Kingsland. As a GHS junior last spring, he finished fifth in the state tourney. Price placed 11th at the state contest when he was a sophomore in 2021.
The boys scored 737 (366-371) to finish in a tie for tenth place among 15 teams at the region tourney. Price led the squad with his first-place finish. Others were Max Blair (96-96=192), Camden Darder (94-106=200), John David Johnson (103-100=203) and Hagan Robertson (130-130=260).
During the girls’ regional contest on Apr. 17-18, the Ladycats were fifth overall with a team score of 812 (405-407) competing in the 14-team field. Emma Tyus was the top golfer with an individual score of 182 (91-91). Others on the squad were Marleigh Thompson (102-104=206), Bailee Barbaro (98-111=209), Kelsey Harris (114-101=215) and Dallas Lane (129-129=258).
Both the Wildcats and Ladycats won first place at the District 10-4A tournament on Mar. 27-28 at Mansfield National Golf Club.
