He may just be six years old, but Pleasant View Elementary School student Cameron Tasker is already on the big stage for a production at Plaza Theatre in Cleburne.

Tasker, a Godley ISD kindergartener, is performing with the children’s ensemble in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, a musical based on the Ian Fleming novel that led to a popular 1968 motion picture starring Dick Van Dyke.

The youngster has participated in children’s productions with Plaza Academy, but this marks his first mainstage show.  Joining him for the musical are his parents, Jay and Jorilyn Tasker.

According to Music Theatre International, “An eccentric inventor, Caractacus Potts sets about restoring an old race car from a scrap heap with the help of his children, Jeremy and Jemima. They soon discover the car has magical properties, including the ability to float and take flight. Trouble occurs when the evil Baron Bomburst desires the magic car for himself. The family joins forces with Truly Scrumptious and batty Grandpa Potts to outwit the dastardly Baron and Baroness and their villainous henchman, the Child Catcher.”

Performances are Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays through September 10 at Dudley Hall in Downtown Cleburne. More information is available at www.plazaco.org.
