Jasmynn Galindo, a fifth grader at Pleasant View Elementary School, won the Godley ISD district spelling bee on January 20, 2023, at Legacy Elementary School.

Galindo and Legacy fourth grader Navin Riemondi battled through 20 rounds before Galindo emerged the victor with Reimondi as the runner-up.

The district contest featured top winners from Legacy, Pleasant View and R.B. Godley Elementary School.  Other students competing were:

• Legacy - Collyns Hutson, Colin Moody, Isabella Velasquez, Finn Van Wart

• Pleasant View - Callie Devillier, Kaitlen Henslee, Cole Jeune, Devyn Valarde

• R.B. Godley - Fisher Barrett, Caleb Esquivel, Annie McVay, Autumn Medenwaldt, Daizy Mimick

Galindo advances to the Area 24 competition on Feb. 9 featuring winners from Johnson County schools.
