Pleasant View Elementary School was in the spotlight at the Godley ISD school board meeting on May 19, 2025, at Godley High School.
Dr. Melissa Block, the campus principal, reviewed a variety of academic data for students including growth in reading, math and science. She also highlighted achievements with 7,370 books read in pre-kindergarten and 1,367,103 minutes read in grades K-5.
Block discussed the school’s implementation of the community-based accountability system, which is based upon the hopes and dreams of the Godley community and built around seven important pillars. CBAS is a locally-developed accountability system, measures benefits and effectiveness of GISD schools, highlights district successes and areas for improvement, and incorporates state testing and accountability.
Regarding student engagement, the school held a career day and encouraged students to participate in clubs. Block stated that 11 students exited the emergent bilingual program.
Block reported that student attendance improved this school year and that discipline referrals were down.
During the spotlight, the campus honored first grader Andrew Vinet and his family for his courageous fight against cancer.
