Godley Independent School District - Empowering Students

Logo Title

Mentors Care, a nonprofit educational program, kicked off at Godley High School with a Godley Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony on June 18, 2025.

The transformative new program is aimed at supporting at-risk students by pairing them with caring adult mentors who meet with them weekly. The impact of these relationships can be truly life-changing - and community involvement is key to the program’s success, according to the organization.

Founded in 2009, Mentors Care is designed to give students what they need, not only to graduate but to live their lives to their fullest potential.

The Godley program already has 15 mentors signed up, according to community engagement coordinator Crystal Meyers, who issued a challenge for 30 mentors prior to the start of the 2025-26 school year.  With a staff member housed at GHS to assist both students and mentors, the program will seek to have 60 mentors in total.

Interested volunteers must complete an online application, participate in an interview and complete a school district background check.  Additional information is available at www.mentors.care/what-we-can-do.
