Godley High School senior Ryan McFarland is advancing to the state swim meet in two events after competing at the Region II-4A meet January 30–31, 2026, at the Frisco ISD Bruce Eubanks Natatorium. The qualification marks McFarland’s third consecutive trip to the state meet.

McFarland placed first in the boys 100-yard freestyle with a finals time of 49.28 seconds, improving on his preliminary time of 50.49 seconds. He also finished first in the boys 100-yard backstroke, posting a finals time of 55.40 seconds after recording a 57.71-second swim in the preliminary round.

Based on his performances, McFarland was named the Region II-4A Individual Male Athlete of the Meet by the Texas Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association.

At last year’s state meet, McFarland finished ninth in the boys 100-yard freestyle preliminaries with a time of 50.61 seconds. He also placed ninth in the boys 100-yard backstroke prelims with a time of 58.53 seconds before improving to 57.73 seconds in the B finals.

As a sophomore, McFarland advanced to the state meet in the boys 200-yard freestyle and the boys 100-yard backstroke.

The UIL state meet is set for Feb. 12-13 at North East ISD’s Josh Davis Natatorium in San Antonio.
