Ryan McFarland, a junior at Godley High School, is advancing to state in two events from the Region II-4A swim meet on January 31-February 1, 2024, at Frisco ISD Bruce Eubanks Natatorium.

The GHS junior placed second in the Boys 1000 Yard Freestyle posting a time of 50.71 seconds, improving from his first-place finish of 51.32 seconds during the preliminary round.  McFarland was also second in the Boys 100 Yard Backstroke with a finals time of 56.98 seconds - besting his prelims time of 59.13 seconds.

Last year as a sophomore, McFarland advanced to state in both the Boys 200 Yard Freestyle and the Boys 100 Yard Backstroke at the regional competition, placing first and third respectively.  

The UIL state meet is Feb. 13-14 at North East ISD’s Josh Davis Natatorium in San Antonio.
