Ryan McFarland, a junior at Godley High School, competed in two events at the UIL Class 4A state swim meet on February 13-14, 2025, at North East ISD’s Josh Davis Natatorium in San Antonio.

In the Boys 100 Yard Freestyle, McFarland finished ninth in the prelims, posting a time of 50.61 seconds. He also placed ninth in the Boys 100 Backstroke with a prelim finish of 58.53 seconds, dropping to 57.73 second in the B-Finals.

At the Region II contest on Feb. 1, the GHS junior placed second in the Boys 100 Yard Freestyle posting a time of 50.71 seconds, improving from his first-place finish of 51.32 seconds during the preliminary round.  McFarland was also second in the Boys 100 Yard Backstroke with a finals time of 56.98 seconds - besting his prelims time of 59.13 seconds.

Last year as a sophomore, McFarland advanced to state in both the Boys 200 Yard Freestyle and the Boys 100 Yard Backstroke at the regional competition, placing first and third respectively.
