Godley Independent School District - Empowering Students

Logo Title

Students at Legacy Elementary School will return to a safer and refreshed playground area thanks to a partnership between Legacy Elementary PTO and The Home Depot in Cleburne.

Through a grant valued at more than $10,000 in materials and equipment, improvements were recently completed throughout the playground area, including the removal of tree stumps, covering exposed tree roots and adding hardwood mulch around playground trees to improve student safety during recess and outdoor activities.

The project also provided tools and equipment that will remain with the Godley ISD maintenance department for future district projects.

“This project is a great example of what can happen when schools, families and community partners work together,” said Godley ISD Superintendent Dr. Rich Dear. “We appreciate the Legacy PTO and The Home Depot for investing in our students and helping create a safer environment for children to learn, play and grow.”

Many PTO volunteers and community supporters worked together to complete the playground improvements.

“This has truly been a labor of love behind the scenes since our very first PTO meeting, and seeing it all come together makes us so proud,” Legacy PTO organizers said.

“Most importantly, our kids can now run, play and enjoy recess more safely without exposed tree roots creating tripping hazards. We are beyond grateful for the support, teamwork and community that made this possible. Big things happen when people come together for our kids!”
