Godley Independent School District - Empowering Students

Logo Title

Legacy Elementary School was in the spotlight at the Godley ISD school board meeting on February 21, 2024, at Godley High School.

Principal Ammie Hill highlighted the school’s implementation of the community-based accountability system, which is based upon the hopes and dreams of the Godley community and built around seven important pillars.  CBAS is a locally-developed accountability system, measures benefits and effectiveness of GISD schools, highlights district successes and areas for improvement, and incorporates state testing and accountability.

In particular, the principal and Assistant Principal Jayme Duckett outlined progress on a safe learning environment through classroom door procedures, Wildcat ROARS (emphasizing respect, ownership, attitude, responsibility and safety) and “be kind” statements.  Student engagement is emphasized through weekly enrichment clubs, positive office referrals for Legacy All-Stars, hands-on learning opportunities and the new Imagination Station.  Likewise, teachers and staff are focused on rigor through data-driven planning, professional learning communities and planning time.

The spotlight also included the school’s Wildcat Ambassadors leading pledges to the U.S. and Texas flags to begin the meeting.  Also featured was the Treblemaker Choir, which performed a song for trustees and attendees.

Hill praised the leadership of both student groups along with teachers, staff as well as parent volunteers serving on the Legacy PTO board.
