Legacy Elementary School was in the spotlight at the Godley ISD school board meeting on March 17, 2025, at Godley High School.

Principal Tom Frazier reported current enrollment of around 505 students in grades K-5, marking 8.9% growth over last school’s year number of 464.  He reviewed numbers for special populations with campus staff providing additional instructional support for these students. 

Fraziere discussed the school’s implementation of the community-based accountability system, which is based upon the hopes and dreams of the Godley community and built around seven important pillars.  CBAS is a locally-developed accountability system, measures benefits and effectiveness of GISD schools, highlights district successes and areas for improvement, and incorporates state testing and accountability.

The school is setting a mindset of high expectations to ensure student growth, according to Frazier.  Professional learning community meetings and student-centered coaching help create a shared responsibility to take the kids where they are and to help them grow and blossom, he said.  Math is a campus focus, and teachers are focused on what individual students need.

Legacy is incorporating volunteers in the regular school day.  A new collaboration with StoneWater Church is helping support teachers, students and families in the communities.  The campus also has opportunities to grow the Wildcat Dad program to involve fathers, grandfathers and other men into the campus culture.

Frazier discussed various strategies for safety and well-being, including positive office referrals, reinforcement of guidelines during morning announcements, social contracts and class expectations that demonstrate mutual respect, and safety drills and security protocols that are implemented with fidelity.
