Godley High School student athletes Madeline Ackers, Kennedy Black and Makayla Jetton were victorious at the UIL area track meet on April 11, 2025, at Waxahachie Life High School’s Mustang Stadium.

Ackers, a senior, smashed the school record in discus to win the area title with a throw of 119-07, according to GHS track coach Keith McFarland.  Ackers placed second in the shot put, throwing 39-3.75.  She earned a regional bid in both events.

Jetton, a junior, and Black, a freshman, finished first and third in the 3200-meter run, posting times of 13:06.87 and 13:27.10 respectively to earn spots at regionals.  Jetton also won the 800-meter run, finishing at 2:27.21, while Black placed fifth just missing out on advancing in that event.

The three were among seven from Godley advancing to area competition after excelling at the District 12-4A meet on Apr. 2-3 at Life High School.  Others were Keegan Bohannon (discus), Maddyn Martin (400-meter dash and high jump), Nash Pannell (300-meter hurdles) and Cy Tennery (3200-meter run).  Several posted personal bests in their events.

  • Boys 3200-Meter Run:  Cy Tennery, sixth
  • Boys 300-Meter Hurdles:  Nash Pannell, eighth
  • Boys Discus:  Keegan Bohannon, sixth
  • Girls 400-Meter Dash:  Maddyn Martin, seventh
  • Girls 800-Meter Run:  Makayla Jetton, first; Kennedy Black, fifth
  • Girls 3200-Meter Run:  Makayla Jetton, first; Kennedy Black, third
  • Girls Discus:  Madeline Ackers, first
  • Girls High Jump:  Maddyn Martin, sixth
  • Girls Shot Put:  Madeline Ackers, second

The Region II-4A meet is set for Apr. 18-19 at East Texas A&M University in Commerce.
