The Godley Ladycats are heading to the state meet after placing second at the Region II-4A Championship on October 21, 2025, at the Harold Patterson Sports Complex on the University of Texas at Arlington campus.

The GHS girls finished fourth in the 22-team contest, led by senior Makayla Jetton, who captured the silver medal with a time of 12:05.49. “This is the best individual finish at a regional cross country meet in school history,” said Ladycats head coach Keith McFarland.

Rounding out the Ladycats varsity runners were sophomore Dillan Akridge (12:51.27, 20th), freshman Leighton Murphy (13:14.81), senior Sophia Hodges (13:23.00), sophomore Kennedy Black (13:30.17), junior Emma Lindamood (13:31.11) and sophomore Madison Leonhardt (14:16.36). Alternates were Presley Hindash, Julyssa Ortiz and Kinley Simmons.

For the Wildcats, sophomore Landon Bell finished 34th among 175 runners with a personal-best time of 17:32.23. Junior Cy Tennery (18:01.83) placed 54th in his third straight regional appearance.

The Class 4A state championship will be held Saturday, Nov. 1, at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock.
