Ten Godley Ladycats received District 6-4A soccer honors following the 2022-23 season, which saw the Godley High School girls advance to postseason for the second time in the team’s short history.

Stephanie Favela was named Offensive Most Valuable Player, while Sophia Hodges was Offensive Newcomer of the Year.  Both are GHS freshmen.

Others named to the district squad were:

  • 1st Team:  Morgan Cummings, Paige Palcic, Caileigh Underwood

  • 2nd Team:  Cassie Capps, Jordan Geesaman, Lexi Tyler

  • Honorable Mention:  Elissa Castro, Catrina Leverett

The Ladycats battled Brownwood in the Class 4A bi-district playoffs on Mar. 23, coming up short during a penalty-kick tiebreaker after dueling to a 2-2 stalemate at the end of regulation and two ten-minute overtime periods.

The Godley girls compiled a 14-1 record going into the postseason matchup, marking the team’s second playoff appearance since the team’s founding in 2021. The girls swept all District 6-4A foes, with a single loss coming to eventual district champ Waxahachie Life.

In addition to Goldey, the athletic district includes Alvarado, Ferris, Keene, Kennedale, Venus and Waxahachie Life.
