Godley Ladycats defeated Fort Worth Dunbar 21-0 in Class 4A softball bi-district playoffs on April 29, 2023, at GHS.
As the District 10-4A champion, the Ladycats faced off against Dunbar, the fourth-place team from District 9, to win after five innings in a single-game matchup.
The GHS girls will next square off against Celina, the District 11 runner-up who defeated Dallas Carter 16-0 in the bi-district round. The area contest will be a best-of-three series beginning with Game 1 on Thursday, May 4 at 6 p.m. in Godley. Celina will host the next two games with Game 2 scheduled for Friday, May 5 at 6 p.m. followed by Game 3 if necessary.
Godley compiled a perfect 10-0 district record leading up to the postseason. During first-half play, the Ladycats beat Alvarado 11-1 on Mar. 21, Venus 7-6 on Mar. 24, Waxahachie Life 10-0 on Mar. 28, Hillsboro 19-4 on Mar. 31 and Kennedale 13-2 on Apr. 4. The GHS girls also swept the second round, defeating Alvarado 12-0 on Apr. 7, Venus 13-1 on Apr. 11, Waxahachie Life 17-0 on Apr. 14, Hillsboro 12-1 on Apr. 18 and Kennedale 11-7 on Apr. 21.
Varsity Ladycats include Madison Aguiar, Samantha Andersen, Jacy Barrett, Alyssa Castillo, Cadence Chambliess, Karlee Clark, Ahmari Govea, Halle Gross, Bree Hubbard, Lexy Lewallen, Brittany Roark, Macy Robinson, Audrey Rodriguez, Bailee Wallis and Dakota Watson.
