The Godley Ladycats captured the District 12-4A basketball championship with a home win over Hillsboro to wrap up district play on February 4, 2025. This marks the third district title in a row for the Godley girls.
The GHS girls posted a perfect 12-0 district record, sweeping all district foes through both rounds of play.
In addition to the 41-33 win over Hillsboro, scores during the second half of district action show the Godley varsity winning over Alvarado 55-19 on Jan. 17, Waxahachie Life 78-34 on Jan. 21, Venus 58-23 on Jan. 24, Kennedale 45-43 on Jan. 28 and Ferris 79-33 on Jan. 31.
During the first half, Ladycats bested Alvarado 56-13 on Dec. 13, Waxahachie Life 58-35 on Dec. 17, Venus 59-19 on Dec. 20, Kennedale 58-33 on Jan. 3, Ferris 59-28 on Jan. 7 and Hillsboro 58-41 on Jan. 10.
For the Class 4A Division II bi-district playoff round, the district champions will face Wilmer Hutchins from District 11. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 10 at Mansfield Timberview High School.
The varsity squad includes Nola Briscoe, Kase Grimsley, Lila Heiner, Presley Hindash, Bree Hubbard, Sadey Hughey, Kinlee Smith and Ava Wilson.
Head coach Mark Chauveaux is assisted by Kristi Mayes and Skyler Warrick as well as athletic trainer Duke Graham. Team managers are Abby Hughey, Abbie Smith and Marleigh Thompson.
