The Godley Ladycats captured the District 10-4A basketball championship with a road win over Ferris to wrap up district play on February 6, 2024.

This marks the second district title in a row for the Godley girls.

The GHS girls posted a perfect 12-0 district record, sweeping all district foes through both rounds of play.

In addition to the 76-36 win over Ferris, scores during the second half of district action show the Godley varsity winning over Venus 59-26 on Jan. 16, Hillsboro 42-12 on Jan. 19, Kennedale 57-29 on Jan. 26, Alvarado 48-28 on Jan. 30 and Waxahachie Life 79-27 on Feb. 2.

During the first half, Ladycats bested Venus 65-20 on Dec. 12, Hillsboro 65-20 on Dec. 15, Kennedale 65-39 on Jan. 2, Alvarado 65-52 on Jan. 5, Waxahachie Life 72-37 on Jan. 9 and Ferris 75-33 on Jan. 12.

For the bi-district playoff round, the district champions will face Fort Worth Western Hills, the fourth-place team from District 9.  Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 12 at Burleson Centennial High School.  

The varsity squad includes Lexi Abbott, Payton DeFoor, Bree Hubbard, Alyssa Jimenez, Logan Reed, Trinity Roden, Kinlee Smith, Reese Tennery and Ava Wilson.

Junior varsity Ladycats also claimed the district championship with a perfect 10-0 record. Team members are Nola Briscoe, Kase Grimsley, Lila Heiner, Sophia Hodges, Sadey Hughey, Luna Tiebackx and Jesley Wilson.

Likewise, the freshmen shared the district title with a final record of 5-1. They are Jordyn Davis, Abbie Hughey, Ava Jackson, Pricila Morales, Jiselle Perales, Katie Ponce, Raelyn Revland and Kinzie Riney.

Head coach Mark Chauveaux is assisted by Kristi Mayes and Skyler Warrick as well as athletic trainer Duke Graham. Team managers are Bailee Barbaro, Taylor Hayes, Ava Slidell and Marleigh Thompson.
