The Godley Ladycats captured the District 10-4A basketball championship with a home victory over Ferris to wrap up district play on February 7, 2023.

This marks the first district title for the Godley girls since the 2016-17 season, when the team reached the UIL state tourney.

The GHS girls posted an 11-1 district record with a single loss to Kennedale 58-50 on Jan. 27.

In addition to the 62-32 win over Ferris, scores during the second half of district action show the Godley varsity winning over Venus 64-19 on Jan. 17, Hillsboro 70-23 on Jan. 20, Waxahachie Life 64-24 on Feb. 3 and Alvarado 55-32 on Feb. 6.

During the first half, Ladycats bested Venus 78-19 on Dec. 13, Hillsboro 66-31 on Dec. 16, Kennedale 50-46 on Jan. 3, Alvarado 55-38 on Jan. 6, Waxahachie Life 68-20 on Jan. 10 and Ferris 61-36 on Jan. 13.

For the bi-district playoff round, the district champions will face the fourth-place team from District 9 - either Fort Worth Young Women's Leadership Academy or Fort Worth Carter-Riverside, who will face off in a tiebreaker game on Friday, Feb. 10.

The Ladycat varsity squad includes Lexi Abbott, Payton DeFoor, Brooklyn Fancher, Bree Hubbard, Alyssa Jimenez, Logan Reed, Trinity Roden, Kinlee Smith and Reese Tennery.

Head coach Mary Chauveaux is assisted by Kristi Mayes and Jim Sharp as well as athletic trainer Duke Graham. Managers are Michaela Davis, Marleigh Thompson, Emma Tyus and Kyla Williams.
