The Godley Ladycats earned a spot in the Class 4A Region II tournament with a 47-36 victory over Van Alstyne in the regional quarterfinal playoffs on February 21, 2023, at Keller Central High School.

The team advances to the regional tourney on Feb. 24-25 at Texas A&M University-Commerce.  Facing off against Sunnyvale, the semifinal matchup will be on Friday, Feb. 24 at 8 p.m. in the university’s Field House.  The winner will take on the victor of the other semifinal game between Frisco Panther Creek and Pinkston on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 3 p.m.

The district champions beat Fort Worth Young Women’s Leadership Academy 59-19 in the bi-district round on Feb. 13 and Anna 63-52 in the area contest on Feb. 17.

The Godley girls captured the District 10-4A basketball title and posted an 11-1 district record.  This marks the first district title and regional appearance for the Godley girls since the 2016-17 season, when the team reached the UIL state tourney.

The Ladycat varsity squad includes Lexi Abbott, Payton DeFoor, Brooklyn Fancher, Bree Hubbard, Alyssa Jimenez, Logan Reed, Trinity Roden, Kinlee Smith and Reese Tennery.

Head coach Mark Chauveaux is assisted by Kristi Mayes and Jim Sharp as well as athletic trainer Duke Graham. Managers are Michaela Davis, Marleigh Thompson, Emma Tyus and Kyla Williams.
