Godley High School shot putter Madeline Ackers claimed a regional championship and state bid at the UIL regional track meet on April 18-19, 2025, at East Texas A&M University in Commerce.

Ackers, a senior, smashed the school record in shot put with a throw of 43-10 to win first and advance to the UIL state contest.  She also competed in discus.

The GHS senior was one of four Ladycats competing at the Region II-4A competition after advancing from the area meet on Apr. 18-19.  Others were freshman Kennedy Black (3200-meter run), junior Makayla Jetton (800-meter and 3200-meter runs) and freshman Maddyn Martin (high jump).

Area contest results were:

• Girls 800-Meter Run:  Makayla Jetton, sixth (2:24.36 - new school record)
• Girls 3200-Meter Run:  Makayla Jetton, fifth (12:19.03 - personal record); Kennedy Black, 13th (12:56.50)
• Girls Discus:  Madeline Ackers, 15th (82-10)
• Girls High Jump:  Maddyn Martin, 13th (4-8)
• Girls Shot Put:  Madeline Ackers, first (state qualifier, 43-10.25 - new school record)

The state track and field meet is set for May 1 at the Mike A. Myers Track & Soccer Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin.
