Godley High School shot putter Madeline Ackers competed in the UIL Class 4A state track and field meet on May 1, 2025, at the Mike A. Myers Track & Soccer Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin.

Ackers, a GHS senior, placed fifth in the shot put with a throw of 41-0.50 in the state competition.

She claimed a regional championship and state bid at the Region II-4A track meet on Apr. 18-19, smashing the school record with a throw of 43-10 to win first.  Ackers placed third in district for both the discus and shot put, then improved to first in discus and second in shot put at the area level to qualify for regionals.

Ackers is headed to Sam Houston State University in the fall to join the college track and field team.
